Derby Hill had a wonderful year in 2010, showing throughout Northern and Southern California with great success. Our clients grew in their riding abilities, brought home many tri-colors and classic wins, and most importantly, had fun while showing together.
Adrienne Dixon's final year with Alize culminated in the PCHA Region 2 Amateur/Owner Jumper Championship. Alize has been Adrienne's "go to" horse for the past five years, and was lovingly retired at the end of the 2010 show season.

Adrienne forged a new partnership this summer with Camarilla, purchased from Emil Spadone. "Cammy" is an 8-year Swedish Warmblood mare. Already, two two have been a formidable force in the Low Amateur/Owner classes and classics with wins at The Oaks, Showpark, Sonoma Horse Park and Sacramento International Horse Shows.

Always a pleasure to have in the show barn aisle and as a visitor to Stanford, Ali Cornish purchased Lola to accompany her and Theo on their 2010 show circuit. Vanessa guided Ali to top-10 finishes in PCHA 14 & Under Medal Finals, CPHA Foundation Medal Finals, Horse & Hound Medal Finals, NorCal Junior Medal Finals. In addition, Vanessa coached Ali to a top-10 finish in her first USET West Coast Talent Search Finals. Under Vanessa's tutelage, Ali was also one of the 12 finalists in the U.S. that qualified for the Level 3 Emerging Athlete's Program.

Gwen Seifert and Philippa were additions to Team Derby Hill in 2010. The team dominated nearly every time out, racking up stake wins and earning tri-colors at Woodside Spring Preview, Woodside Spring Classic, Pickwick Summer Classic, Woodside Circuit Opener and Woodside Fall Finale.

Madeline and El Valiente joined Derby Hill during 2010, too. Madeline is always quick with a smile, bringing treats to the barn and organizing birthdays. She, however, is ALWAYS behind the camera and never in front of it...something we will have to rectify during 2011! Madeline will be returning to the jumper arena in 2011 with new mount, Paesano.

Annie Bennett and Rio's Roxy cleaned up at their only show appearance in 2010. During the Woodside summer circuit, Annie and Jurassica earned two tri-colors in each of the three weeks they showed, racking up three champion and three reserve champion ribbons out of six possible divisions! Congratulations to Annie on leasing Franklin for the 2011 show season. We are looking forward to seeing this new team on the show circuit.

Nicoletta von Heidegger and Cool Man Z joined us at Stanford and at several shows over the season. These two were Champion at the Menlo Charity Horse Show at 1.20 and earned good ribbons at Woodside and Sacramento International. A highlight for the year was the two winning the 5-bar at the Stanford Invitational in the fall, clearing 5'6"!

Caroline Leichter joined us briefly before relocating to Paris, France. Caroline and Snaps were Short Stirrup Champions back-to-back at the Woodside summer series before her depature. We look forward to reconnecting with Caroline and her parents when they come back to the area after their Parisian sojourn!

Juliana Ronn joined Team Derby Hill in August after her relocation from Cincinnati, Ohio. Juliana and her Ca'Tazan earned good ribbons in the Junior Hunters at Woodside Fall Finale and NorCal Medal Finals Horse Show. Juliana will continue her career with "Z" in the Junior Hunter arena and add Quiwi in the equitation ring this year.

Susan Meadows and Topper missed most of the show season due to injury, but still managed to finish 8th in NorCal Hunter/Jumper Assocation Amateur/Owner Jumpers for 2010. Susan and Turbo Topper are looking forward to returning to their winning ways in 2011 and we can't wait to have them back at the shows with us!
Squeezing a few shows in between her school year studies and a summer research assignment, Jamie Wasson and Ehre teamed up at the Woodside shows. Jamie and Ehre formed a great partnership very quickly, and earned many good ribbons in their short summer show season.

We are always glad to see Cindy McCarthy in the aisle at shows. Irwin and Plainsfield Station AKA Siobhan are always competitive and showed to great ribbons at Menlo Charity Horse Show, Sacramento International and the Woodside circuit.

We are also always happy to see Sue Sadlier, Double Eagle AKA Fox and Diamond River in the show barn aisle. We have the pleasure of overseeing Sue's and her horses' lesson plan at home and are extremely grateful to Diane Yeager for entrusting us with her wonderful clients at occasional shows. Congratulations to Sue and Fox on their A/O Hunter Championship and Sue and Diamond on their Championship in the Modified Junior/Amateur Hunters at the NorCal Hunter/Jumper Association year-end awards.
