It was a cold and rainy morning, but nothing could stop Team Derby Hill from participating in AIDS Walk San Francisco 2007. We had a great day and catered breakfast for team members including Captain Vanessa Brown, Co-Captain Cindi Perez, Johnny and Annie Bennett, Tom Rattigan and Katie, Rachel Stuck and her boyfriend, Janine Hill and Susan Meadows. We walked side by side with the cast from Jersey Boys and met Jai Rodriguez from Queer Eye. The mayor of San Francisco, Gavin Newsom, gave an amazing and inspirational speech, and off we went. Record funds were raised to aid Bay Area families and individuals afflicted with AIDS and HIV. We were proud to have met and exceeded our $20,000 goal by raising over $22,000 from equestrian friends and colleagues across the country.
We are already looking forward to AIDS Walk 2008 and we will be raising our target goal to $30,000. Stay tuned for events and fund raisers that will benefit this important cause.
